Crystal Labyrinth Illusion Maps

I had done a concept in my tabletop RPG campaign for a ‘never ending labyrinth’.

In reality, there was an illusion pulled on the players and their characters. The maps are full of similar hallways and corridors because they’re the same map rotated at different angles, made to represent going in a repeating (or at least similar) circle as they’re ‘lost’ in the magic cavern.

The content of each floor can vary however you need: puzzles, stealth, traps, or combat. The maps are meant to be empty as an open template for the imagination.

All these maps are intended for a 40×40 grid base.

The first level, unique because it has the entryway at the bottom.
A 180 degree rotation of the previous image, with the entrance removed.
The next few images are variations on 90 degree rotations if the labyrinth.
And finally, really big final room for a boss fight.

Underground Ruins Maps

More maps! It’s only two right now, but they’re larger in scale and intended for multi-session dungeon crawling.

This is some work I’ve done from my 5e campaign, which is still continuing in the Underdark. I may have used them for the Underdark, but they could definitely be repurposed as some kind of cave or tunnel on the surface level.

An underground tunnel and lodgings, long abandoned, coincidentally next to some kind of magical rooms with teleportation pads in them. (60×60)
A large ruins with magic and treasures in a huge chasm, with a tribe of squatters taking root in part of it. (60×60)

Underground and Caves Maps

My tabletop RPG campaign went to the deep unground, so I have a few maps to share. I’ve definitely been enjoying creating content for dark, dank caves and ruins.

An abandoned mining cave, with a hole at the end going downwards.
A small tribal camp in some ruins, on the exit/entrance of a cave.
A campsite in a glowing mushroom forest.

Homebrew Items

These are a few of my favorite homebrew items I’ve made so far in my 5e campaign. I like to try and keep the uniqueness of the item and give the player some extra abilities or utility instead of just stat gains. I also usually try to keep these abilities as effects that are already within the 5e core rules, so most of the effects are modelled after already existing abilities or spells.

As a note, if you don’t know where to make stuff like these ‘homebrewery.naturalcrit.com’ lets you make DnD book style homebrew creations.

A giant ogre’s treasured battle-axe. It has decent effects already, but is countered by a curse if the user does not have ogre level intelligence.

Necklace of a righteous cleric. It has useful effects without attunement but requires a specific alignment and might not be useable by all party members …

A giant boulder carried as some sort of ascetic right. Strong effects but requires a huge carry weight in order to lift and use it.

And finally, one of my favorites. A gag item, to torture players with!

Village Maps

I made some maps for an overhead view of villages in the story. These are originally for somewhat specific story-based locations, but with some imagination hopefully they’ll work for whatever they need to.

A village partially overgrown by forest.
A marble fortress on a raised up plateau.
A village stuck between a dense forest and a rocky cliffy.

Winter Themed Maps

Another image dump of maps for my campaign, which is now in the winter season. There’s been a lot of travelling in the game itself, so a lot of the maps have been on or just off the roads.

A monster’s lair in a hot springs cave.
An abandoned cabin off the side of the road.
An edit of the previous map to just be the forest and road.
A wagon attacked on the road.
A town marketplace in the winter time
The same map, but at night time.

Mapmaking Catchup

Work has been busy lately, so I’ve had a backlog on maps and tabletop RPG content I haven’t been able to post or work on. Because I’m not 100% sure the direction I want to take the campaign after the hiatus, I’ve kind of been working on some more generic and reusable play maps. It’s not everything I’ve done, but here’s some of my favorites:

A small town jail, with one fancy cell for a special prisoner…

A fork in the road, with a dramatic rock formation

A redo of an old map I made. I updated some of the stamps and shading

Another redo of an older map I had made. I added some lighting for the campfire to make it a bit more dynamic.

Labyrinths and Boss Fights

To set up for a dramatic finish to the first ‘story arc’ I wanted to two things: a very big dungeon to explore and then a dramatic looking map for a boss fight.
I really enjoyed putting the extra effort into these, I think that they both show I’ve been getting better at different tricks for stuff like blending and shading.

A large catacombs to explore
A basement altar, nice and open for big fight

Image Dump – Random Campaign Maps

Just putting out some of the maps I’ve made more recently. These have been specific to my recent tabletop RPG campaign, so the usefulness may vary. Some of the quality has been getting away from me as well since I’ve been busy with work and other stuff since the start of the year.

A fighting pit in the center of a ritzy dining space…
A town well at the edge of a forest…
A house at the side of the road, with plenty of open space…
A spooky basement area, used for bad stuff…
